Abstract:

This layer contains storm sewer lines for the City of Red Lodge. Sewer line locations and attributes were provided by local engineering firms over various years. These data were converted from AutoCAD 2000 format and georeferenced to state plane coordinate system.

Purpose:

This dataset is a geographical representation of storm sewer lines for the City of Red Lodge and is intended to be used for mapping or analysis

Completeness report:

Storm sewer lines are complete for the City of Red Lodge except for the recently annexed Spires subdivsion. However, verification of line locations and attributes are still needed.

Horizontal Positional Accuracy Report:

A distributed selection of storm sewer manholes were verified in the field using differential GPS. These GPS locations were used in a spatial transformation process to increase the accuracy of the storm sewer line lyaer. The overall horizontal accuracy is estimated at /- 10 feet.

Process step:

Storm sewer lines were acquired in AutoCAD format from DOWL HKM Engineering, Inc. Limited information was provided on the original local coordinate system used during mapping. Therefore, the CAD layer was georeferenced to the Montana state plane coordinate system using a 2 point similarity transformation. Utility features were seperated by thematic content and converted to individual feature classes within a comprehensive geodatabase for the City. DGPS was used to map several manholes and storm drains that were geographically distributed around the City. These DGPS locations were used in a second geographic transformation to improve the positional accuracy of the utility layer.
